At NAB 2025 Florical Systems will be introducing their new cloud-native Media Asset Management service called Hermaios™ (Ἓρμαιος “her-MAY-ōs”) – aka Hermes, the Greek messenger of the gods. Hermes traveled between the worlds as a herald from the gods to the people. In the same way, Hermaios™ is a novel software solution designed to manage the collection and distribution of video assets needed for cloud or on-prem playout platforms.
Just as its predecessor, MediaMaster™ (Florical’s on-prem MAM solution), Hermaios™ is a true Hierarchical Storage Management System. The software manages media and storage based on a number of factors including expiration date, existence of spots on future schedules, last air-date, spot length, and type of material, among other factors. In a modern playout environment assets can be stored in a S3 bucket or on-prem storage solution. Hermaios is designed for both cloud or hybrid workflows.
Hermaios™ incorporates AssetCollector™ functionality enabling a comprehensive asset management solution for the modern playout environment. Files will be incorporated into the operating environment from whatever platform it resides and will be distributed to the appropriate playout storage.
Hermaios™ also incorporates AssetDispatcher™ functionality. It is optimized for centralized and cloud operations. In a traditional television playout environment Hermaios™ will streamline central ingest by pushing files and metadata to local edge storage.
Cloud and hybrid operating environments are evolving rapidly within our modern workflows. An agile software solution is required to keep pace with those changing environments. Hermaios™ is built to ensure it meets the expectations of tomorrow.
